The islands of the Cape Verde archipelago are windy, hilly, dry - almost lunar - and fairly sleepy. But there's beauty in the parched hills. And some of the islands are actually lush. There's good diving and hiking, lively nightlife and plenty of quiet corners to hide away in.
With temperatures too lazy to move far from 25°C (77°F), the sunny months of February to June are the time to lounge around the beaches of these islands on Africa 's western tip. In the later months of the year the higher temperatures and humidity might get a bit much for some.
