September 27th 2007: Mexico/ Riviera Maya: Christian Redl did it again ++++
The Austrian diver, who already has 3 records for apnoe diving in the Guiness Book, just did it again.
The Cenote "Angelita" is located south of Tulum / Riviera Maya and this is where at 13:05 pm his feat began when he entered the water of the cavaern, which turns into a cave and changes from fresh water to salt water, after relaxation and concentration to reduce his pulsations down to 30 per minute. Normal pulse is 60 and 80 while resting.
The organizers considered that for this depth of the Cenote Christian Redl would need 2 minutes for his roundtrip, but he surprised them all as he showed up 15 seconds earlier with the depth mark in his hand of 60.1 meters.
His team, which included 6 security divers from the Scubacaribe, was ready every second to assist in a case of emergency.
Alejandro Perez, chief of the security divers from Scubacaribe said that next year they plan to organize a world wide competition with the best apnoe diver at the Riviera Maya.
We are looking forward to this advent and also want to congratulate Christian Redl.

37 seven babies showed up early morning. Suddenly our anxious waiting was over, finally they were here. We took our gloves on, and we show them their way to the ocean, we even dove with them for a while and took some underwater pictures!
It has been two months of intense experience and now we are receiving our price. We hope many turtles will grow old enough to come back. Thanks everybody involved and we wish to invite you joining us in this beautiful event from September to final October.
+++ July 2007: Cape Verde/ Sal: Scubacaribe Staff rescued 117 turtle eggs. Turtles needs more and better protection +++
The Island of Sal needs obviously help to protect better their turtles and turtle eggs from hunters.
"After 1 week monitoring the beaches Algodoeiro to Ponta Sino, ( 6 km ), we have found what is shown on the pictures. The problem is that the tourist that walks the beach they have seen horrified as well. We even had to rescue eggs from the rest of a butchered turtle. Actually now we do have a total of 117 eggs in two nests on our 40 nests protected prepared area. And we have 6 fresh dead turtles in the same period" says Juan Blanco, Baseleader at the Riu Funana/ Riu Garopa dive center.
We would really like to support with cultural information in schools, protection operation during turtle season, underwater professionals image to all this exposed completely out of ant lucrative perspective, and surely start a fund to distribute and protect any kind of materials needed to do so."
We wish good luck to the Scubacaribe Team at Sal and hope they find help for all turtles, turtle eggs and turtle babies!!!!!
