As one of the most popular provinces in Costa Rica, Guanacaste has gained a name as a tropical paradise featuring a pristine shoreline, beautiful mountain ranges and a number of volcanoes. Visitors are drawn to the long summer days, active culture and unparalleled wildlife.
The water temperature ranges from 22-32ºC/ 72-90ºF. During winter (Dec-Mar) cooler currents bring larger animals such as humpback and pilot whales, giant manta rays and whale sharks, among other, in particular around Catalina and the Bat Islands. Their dive sites boast heavy currents, making them more suitable for advanced divers.
If you like bull sharks and are an advanced diver, the rainy season, considered May – November, is the best time to go, as nutrient swells attract those majestic predators to the Bat Islands.
IMPORTANT! From January 4–17, Costa Rica’s beaches are closed after 2:30pm. Crossing them to board the boats will be allowed. We only won’t be authorized to disembark on other beaches during our afternoon tours; and all inclusive services (non-motorized water sports equipment) will stop at 1pm.
Catalina Island is one of Costa Rica's most popular dive sites for big fish encounters. IMPORTANT: 1 local orientation dive required prior to activity (not included)
