Snorkeling Sal Island, Cape Verde

Although each of those ten Cape Verdean islands has their own individual character, it is Sal with its long white sandy beaches that is targeted by European beach buffs and water sports enthusiasts. The main tourist town of Santa Maria is earning its place on the map as a new surfing mecca, and the trade winds and winter swells attract wind and kite surfers.

The dive and snorkeling sites are grouped around two main points of the island. Near Santa Maria on the southern tip of the island you will find several beautiful reefs with overhangs, swim-throughs and caverns teeming with life, and two wrecks forming an excellent artificial reef.
